How to Blog Better

Books, Entrepreneurship No Comments »

I’m evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they’re letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.

It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.

Anthropologists and Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship No Comments »

Teaching Entrepreneurship in a University setting is a mixed bag because on the one hand there exists the ‘Ivory Tower’ of theoretical study and high esteem of knowledge and creativity without the real world ‘rubber meets the road’ results focused implementation that is the trademark of successful entrepreneurship.  On the other hand, there are some very forward thinking practices that unfold that the ‘real world’ should take note of.  One such practice is the combination of three disciplines to bring a concept to market.  Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Anthropology.  Read the rest of this entry »

Revolutionary Advertising Example

Entrepreneurship No Comments »

Being an entrepreneur causes me to always be on the lookout for ‘best practices’ in business and see tactics and strategies that are effective and results focused very easily.  I saw an amazing ad that is compelling, delivers an amazing USP (Unique Selling Proposition) and can be stated in under 10 seconds in a way that any adult would understand completely.  The company was Lifelock.com and is an identity theft prevention service.

Watch the commercial below:

In it you will see the following done amazingly well:
1. Powerful compelling USP that is short, clear and to the point (Our service is so good you can give your SS# out to the world and your identity is still protected meaning you will never have to worry about identity theft again)
2. Amazing guarantee that none of their competitors lead with.  This will generate more business than any other promotion that they could ever think of.

Absolutely brilliant!

Entrepreneurship 1 Comment »

There are 2 other business models that aren’t worth pursuing at all, but is where most business owners fall into because it is so easy to. The business models are Read the rest of this entry »

Questioning Authority

There isn’t much in the world of controversy (abortion, evolution, theology, politics, war, etc) that get’s me too excited anymore because nobody seems to be implementing anything that creates lasting change and revolution.  Obviously something in the 8 minute video below captivated me and even moved me so far as to have to share it here.

The thing that get’s me so excited about a movement like this one that Ben Stein is spearheading is Read the rest of this entry »
